Global Instability and Warfare is on the Rise

Empires have always waged wars and committed atrocities. This is how they are formed and so often maintained, after all. But an empire is also supposed to provide a semblance of order and stability to those nations and regions and peoples under its hegemony. An empire will then undertake violence against those powers, rebels, and upstarts that threaten its ‘peace’, stability and order.

But when violence spreads far and wide, with instability and disorder being the rule and no longer the exception, that empire is no longer a guarantor of order and stability. As such, it has lost credibility among both allies and adversaries. New powers may take advantage and rise through the chaos.

Such is the world today. America’s power remains greater than any other single nation. But it’s ability to impose its will on others, both friend and foe, is in rapid decline. Fear, violence and disorder spread across the globe.
