Researcher and Writer: Andrew Gavin Marshall
I currently am co-host of the podcast, In This Mad World, and am studying Political Science and History at University of Toronto.
I have been studying and writing about political, economic, social and historical issues for nearly twenty years, both in and out of school.
Key areas of research, reading, and studies include:
– Global Politics, International Relations, and the Global Economy
– War, occupation, colonisation, uprisings, revolutions
– Authoritarianism and fascism
– Economic History, Political Economy, and Financial and Economic Crises
– Global financial diplomacy and governance (IMF, The Group of 7, G-20, World Bank, WTO, BRICS, World Economic Forum)
– History and Politics of the Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia
– Israel/Palestine
– History and Politics of US, Germany, Russia, China
– Modern European history and the European Union
I studied Political Science and History at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia, between 2005 and 2009, largely as a part-time student, otherwise focused on working on my own writing and research.
After moving to Montreal, Quebec, I worked for a non-profit media and research group, and briefly attended Concordia University where I continued my studies in history, during which time the Quebec student uprising began in 2012 as a mass protest movement against tuition increases which I closely covered at the time.
In 2010, I co-edited a book on the global economic crisis, and since then have been published in the American Journal of Economics and Sociology, the Spanda Journal, the Transnational Institute’s State of Power series, the Hampton Institute, and The Province newspaper, among others. In addition, I have been referenced in newspaper and media outlets, academic journals, books, Project Censored’s series of the top ten censored news stories of 2014, and have been interviewed by print, audio and video news outlets, including CBC and APTN.
I have since moved to Toronto, and returned to school to finally complete my degree, with a double major in Political Science and History at the University of Toronto.
In October of 2024 I launched the podcast, In This Mad World, co-hosted with a long-time friend where we break down the history and truths behind the headlines today.
