The Wretched and the Dead

Here’s a poem I wrote inspired by the past few days.

The Wretched and the Dead

Weep for the Wretched dead.
Cry for the cancerous tumor that’s killing you.
Shed tears for the tyrant that takes your freedom.
Speak well of the ones who silence you.
And call it empathy.

Blessed are the torturers, rapists and murderers!
Make kings of killers.
Listen to the liars, whose poison words
Give growth to hate.

Defend the dehumanizers and discriminators,
For they know exactly what they do.
Ignore the indefensible,
But praise the ones who said it, and did it,
who brought this world upon us all.
And call it empathy.

Say a prayer for the Wicked,
But hope they don’t hear you.
Sing a song for the psycho,
But leave before they see you.

Believe the deceiver.
Free the jailer.
Make kings of killers,
Make worlds of monsters.
Make the wretched rule and be respected.

Mourn the ones who made you their enemy,
Simply for existing.
Speak sadly when the eaters of the world
Return to the dirt.
Feel with a heavy heart for those who would
Tear yours out.

Heap praise upon the poisoned persons.
Excuse their venom,
Erase their violence,
Ignore their actions,
And call it empathy.

Blessed are the bullies and brutes,
Glory to the rapists and ravagers!
Peace and prosperity for the war-makers and mass murderers.
Celebrate the child annihilators.
Make saints of sadists.
Feed the lies they fed us.
Be the ones they wanted you to be.
And call it empathy.

Victory to the vile, violent ones!
Hope for the horrors they unleashed,
Work for the waste they tried to bring.
Gift them the goods they sought to steal.
Be the ones they wanted you to be.
And call it empathy.

Love the Wretched and the Dead,
More than you love your own empty head.

Protect the chrysalis of cruelty.
Cradle it and keep it warm.
Make it feel safe and secure,
So it may hatch and consume the world.

Make savagery a merit,
Make a mockery of truth.
Make heroes of the horrid,
Make princes of parasites.

Love the Wretched and the Dead,
More than those they racked and ruined.

Cry for the cruel,
Shed tears for the terrible.
Mourn the malevolent.
And call it empathy.

Elevate the dangerous
And celebrate their wrath.
Speak sweetly of the beastly,
And pander to the pitiless and petulant.

Bow down to the priests of power,
And beg for the whip, then cower.
Wash the feet of the fiendish few,
Kiss the ring of the heartless, too.

Polish the chains that bind you,
Hold the hand that hits you.
Brush the boot that presses your face to the floor,
And ask your master, anything more?

Be loyal to the lynchers,
Trust the torturers, too.
Care for the callous in control,
Make virtue of their vitriol.

And call it empathy.

Love the Wretched and the Dead.

But they won’t love you when they take your head.
